Voting in your Precinct

Don’t forget an acceptable Photo ID when going into the voting precinct. 

Examples of these:

  • Virginia DMV-Issued Driver’s License
  • Photo ID Card Issued by Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Photo ID Card Issued by Virginia Government
  • Employer Issued Photo ID
  • U.S. Passport
  • Photo ID Card Issued by the United States
  • Student Photo ID from a Virginia College or University
  • Student Photo ID from a Virginia Public or Private High School
  • Free Virginia Voter  Photo ID Card

If you do not have an acceptable photo ID: 

If you forget your photo ID, while at your precinct:

  • You can choose to vote using a provisional ballot. 
  • You will have until Noon on the Friday after elections to either drop-off, mail, email, or fax a copy of your acceptable photo ID.
  • You can also use a Voter Registration Issued photo ID if you do not have an acceptable photo ID.
  • You will immediately receive a Temporary Identification Document that can be submitted to have your ballot counted.
