The department provides services to individuals and families that enable them to be the best they can be. Some of these services include foster care, adoption services, adult and child protective services, job assistance, food stamps, medical aid, and many others. We're here to help citizens lead productive, self-sufficient lives.

Free Tax Preparation Site
PDSS will serve as a registered Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site until April 2009. This program offers free tax preparation assistance for 2008 tax returns to taxpayers with low to moderate incomes of $40,000 or less.
Professionally trained and IRS certified volunteers will be on hand to assist with tax return preparation and electronic filing.
VITA/EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) tax preparation and screening services are available by appointment only. Appointments can be made by contacting:
