Description:
The Social Worker will perform technical duties in providing on-going social work services to families involved in neglect (adult and child), child abuse, adoption, and/or foster care for the Social Services Department. Work involves interviewing applicants and explaining Social Services programs; assisting applicants in completing necessary forms. Employee is also responsible for verifying that information received from applicants is correct and complete; maintaining a variety of records and files. Employee must exercise considerable independent judgment, discretion and initiative in completing assignments. Employee must also exercise considerable tact, courtesy and discretion in frequent contact with program clients and applicants. Employee must safeguard the confidentiality of department information and clients.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree with major course work in Sociology, Human Services or a related field; 1 to 2 years of experience in human services or case management work.

Must possess a valid Driver's License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
