Description:
The City of Portsmouth is seeking a full-time (80 hour work period) EMS Paramedic to perform life support work. Must be a U.S. citizen, 19 years of age at the time of submission of application.

Education/Experience:
Must possess a High School Diploma or a GED. Requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in the provision of emergency medical care in an E-911 system as a certified paramedic by the Commonwealth of Virginia and/or nationally registered and must be Tidewater EMS Council Sanctioned or have the ability to obtain a Tidewater EMS Council Sanction.

Req:
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a certification in CPR (AHA or Red Cross), ACLS, PALS, EVOC and BTLS. All certifications must be obtained within 90 days of hire date. Must possess a valid Driver's License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia. All out of state applicants must obtain a Driver's License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia within 30 days of employment. Applicants will have to pass a background investigation process, which will include but not limited to a polygraph, criminal history check and a DMV driving history.
