Description:
Under general supervision, operates machinery and performs other work in the maintenance, repair and construction of the water distribution system in the City of Portsmouth. Work involves performing duties as assigned on a work crew involved in the repair of water main and service leaks, service installation and other repair, or maintenance activities to various water system components. Work also involves locating valves and installing new valve boxes, as well as maintaining tools and equipment.

Education/Experience:
Graduation from High School or equivalent; 1 to 2 years of experience in mechanical repair work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Special
Req:
Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia or Commercial Driver's Instruction Permit with the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License within 60 days of hire.
