DMV Connect

Services

DMV Connect is a service outreach program and serves Virginians who may not be able to travel to a DMV office. DMV has 8 Connect teams located throughout the Commonwealth; the teams are based out of Richmond (2 teams), Franconia, Fredericksburg, Tyson's Corner, Newport News, Harrisonburg, and Roanoke.

The program was originally created to provide identification cards to incarcerated individuals pending release, as identification is necessary to secure jobs, open bank accounts, enter public buildings, and apply for benefits. While DMV Connect still provides services to inmates, the program has expanded to serve customers at retirement communities, government centers, homeless shelters, and more.
Advances in technology allow needed equipment to fit in one suitcase. As a result, DMV Connect teams easily bring service to you.

Services

DMV Connect teams can process REAL ID as well as conduct all other DMV transactions except vital records and testing.

DMV employees carry customized cases that contain a laptop, signature pad, and camera. Each team also brings all of their own equipment on-site; only requiring electricity and an internet connection, the teams securely process real-time transactions.
